Interview process
First round of interview consists of two case interviews with experienced Associates of Managers.
Second round consists of another two case interviews, led by Principals
The third round is a one-on-one discussion with the CEO
If you are invited to complete the full sequence, you can expect that both rounds of interviews will be a combination of a case study and fit interviews. This means that, in addition to discussing our firm and your future with it, the consultants you meet will also present you with real-life business problems and ask you to develop solutions. Candidates most successful in a case study interview, are those who are best prepared.
Why the case format?
This format is a simulation in which the interviewer, in the role of a client, presents a business problem and seeks initial recommendations for solving it. In the process of developing and conveying ideas, candidates will have the chance to display the characteristics that make for successful consulting. These include an ability to gather and synthesise information, to postulate alternate solutions, to formulate a solution with the greatest impact and to communicate this with power and poise. Both the candidate and the interviewer will emerge from the case interview with a better sense of the candidate’s “fit” with the consulting profession, and with FTC in particular.
What to expect
The case format presents challenges different to those in a conventional interview. Here, candidates will not only discuss their qualifications but also demonstrate them. The cases encountered will be based in part on actual engagements or projects.
They will focus on areas such as:
- Industry analysis
- Market expansion
- Profit improvement
- Pricing alternatives
- Investment decisions
